About MUSI
Owing to its deep musical heritage, the MUMAQ is reviving the music within its walls. Over the years, since its reconstruction, this space has never ceased to be admired for its surprising acoustics, resulting from the subtleties of its interior architecture. This reputation has attracted some of the world’s greatest artistic names, to name but one: pianist and conductor Wilfrid Pelletier. In June 1936, in this same building, formerly the chapel of the Pères de Sainte-Croix, he launched the Festivals de Montréal series. He conducted the inaugural event with a monumental work: J. S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion.
Experience unforgettable moments in a naturally immersive space close to the artists performing in this magical, warm atmosphere. Illuminated by stained glass windows from the 1930s, the rood screen of the former chapel also houses a historic organ.
