Hatbox
Associated with a top hat in the collection (732-1216.2), this box was probably constructed by Ross & Co., a British hat manufacturer originally located in London. The box was intended to be sold at Jess Applegath, a store found in both Montréal and Toronto.
Clog
These clogs feature a black leather upper and wooden sole. This pair belonged to Wilfrid Gareau, a Québec porter born around 1878 and who died in the late 1930s. The shape of the shoes is reminiscent of those once made in Brittany, earning them the characteristic name galoches bretonnes.
